So, my prediction last week about
the Masters turned out to be wrong. I'll take it though,
as Lefty came away with his second green jacket, and third Major
in three seasons. Tiger may be the #1 player in the world,
but I think Phil is bringing a new revolution to the game with
his two driver idea. I wouldn't doubt that this becomes
the Norm among players on tour in the next couple years.
That is all....
April 3rd 2006
Well, we spent most of Saturday
and Sunday watching LDS General Conference. This is a
great time to listen to the leaders of the church speak about
the issues of the time, and give the members inspiring talks and
direction for the next 6 months. I was especially moved by
President Hinkley's comments on Sunday morning. He is 95
(going on 96) years old, and was recently admitted to the
hospital to have some cancerous tissue removed. It sounds
like while the surgery was a success, there remains some
complications from the surgery. We all hope he
stays with us a while longer. I personally believe he has
had the largest effect on the growth of the church save Joseph
Smith only. What a great man.
AAAHHHH...What am I smelling in
the air? It must be Masters week! This is one of the
best times of the year. From March Madness...to Augusta,
Georgia and the Masters golf tournament. My boy Phil
Mickelson won last week by 13 shots. He looks to be
in great form to tackle Augusta National. They have
reportedly
lengthened the course AGAIN this year by another 150 yards.
I find it funny that they tried to "Tiger Proof" the course, but
all it has done is lead to 4 green jackets for him, and has
basically taken the shorter hitters out of contention.

What I expect to see this week: Look for
some un-notables to play well early in the week. I think
Tiger and Phil are back on their game...but it will be
interesting to see if Vijay is back in form. He has
struggled with his swing plane as of late.
Who will win? As much as I want Phil to
win...it's not his week. In fact, I don't see Tiger
winning this week either. My pick is one of the younger
generation...like a Justin Rose, Adam Scott or Sergio Garcia.
Should be a fun, fun week of golf.

Our family went up to
University Hospital today to visit Mitchell who was hit by a car
on State Street in Orem, Utah. The good news is, he is
feeling better and is in good spirits. The bad news...it
sounds like his rehab will be long and intense. We have
been praying for Mitchell, and wish him a full recovery.
We also decided that while we
up in SLC, that we would drop by the Delta Center and see the
new statue erected for the 'Mailman' Karl Malone. I must
say, that while the Malone statue looked very good, and Stockton
statue that was erected last year makes Stock look like he's an
old man. We got a couple pics, but it was so windy that we
didn't spend too much time wandering around.
